FA Company Spotlight: Warden AI
The war for talent isn't fought in the boardroom anymore. It's fought in algorithms. Millions of hiring decisions now start and end inside black-box models that no candidate ever sees, and no recruiter fully understands. That's where Warden AI plants its flag. Founded in London in 2023 by Jeffrey Pole and Eduard Schikurski, the company is building the guardrails for the most sensitive AI systems in the workforce: the ones deciding who gets in, who moves up, and who's left out.
Jeffrey Pole knows trust at scale. As Head of Product at Onfido, he helped grow the identity verification company from its earliest customers to a $650 million acquisition by Entrust. That work answered the question of whether you can trust a person online. It left him with a bigger one: can you trust the AI making the call? Eduard Schikurski brought the engineering firepower, having been the first full-stack engineer at Monzo Bank, growing from 20 to 1,500 employees, before serving as Head of Engineering at climate-tech startup Abatable. Together they launched Warden with a mission as clear as it is uncompromising: AI drives opportunity, never discrimination.
Their product doesn't just audit AI, it lives inside it. Continuous, real-time monitoring catches bias before it poisons outcomes. Regulatory mapping ensures compliance with NYC Local Law 144, the EU AI Act, and Colorado SB 205. Immutable logs, dataset snapshots, and public dashboards turn invisible decision-making into accountable infrastructure. Proprietary methodologies like counterfactual and disparate impact analysis give organizations something they've never had before: measurable fairness scores they can defend in court and showcase to customers.
That technology is already embedded in leading HR platforms. Beamery uses Warden to power a live AI Assurance Dashboard. Greenhouse integrates it to protect candidate fairness. Sense deploys it to prove responsible AI to its own customers. The traction is backed by capital, £1.1 million raised in July 2025, led by Onfido's founders with Playfair Ventures, bringing total funding to $1.6 million at a $10 million valuation.
Warden's influence isn't just in code. Their State of AI Bias in Talent Acquisition 2025 report examined 150 AI systems and 1 million test cases, finding 85% met fairness thresholds and, in many cases, outperformed humans, delivering up to 45% fairer outcomes for racial minorities. In a market shaped by the EU AI Act, high-profile lawsuits like Mobley v. Workday, and accelerating adoption of HR AI, that's not just insight, it's leverage.
With dual headquarters in London and Austin, a lean team, and a category-defining platform, Warden AI is building the infrastructure for trust in the age of machine judgment. For those ready to build careers where AI fairness isn't optional, the gates are open.
