Company Spotlight: Pylon
Pylon isn’t just a name, it’s infrastructure. The kind of structure you build when the weight of B2B support starts to bend. Because somewhere between Slack pings, Teams threads, and inbox overload, post-sales ops fractured. Tickets became conversations, accounts became arenas, and legacy tools were still selling queue management. Pylon showed up in Nov 2022 to wire it all back together with an AI-native, omnichannel support platform built for teams who live where customers actually talk.
The founders, Advith Chelikani, Marty Kausas, and Robert Eng, met through Caltech and the Kleiner Perkins Fellowship before engineering stints at Airbnb, Samsara, Affinity & NASA JPL. They saw what others missed: the ticket wasn’t the job anymore, the relationship was. So they built Pylon around account context, chat depth, and ruthless time-to-value. Y Combinator W23 backed the bet, and the numbers hit like signal flare: 750+ customers, 5× YoY revenue growth for 2 yrs, 150+ migrations off Zendesk, Intercom & Salesforce Service Cloud.
The product reads clean, works cleaner. Omnichannel by default, Slack Connect, Microsoft Teams, email, in-app chat, ticket forms, Discord. AI that triages, drafts, and learns. Knowledge that auto-surfaces insights without human babysitting. Account intelligence that turns noise into health scores, churn risks & upsell signals. Branded portals & analytics that show, not spin, the data.
Performance is the real headline: First Response Time dropping from ~50 min to 3.5. 80% fewer L1 interventions. 50% less prep on L2. That’s not “assistive AI”, that’s operational compound interest.
Funding followed momentum. Seed and Y Combinator W23 set the spark. A $17 M Series A led by a16z with General Catalyst & Y Combinator in the round brought Jennifer Li to the board to sharpen enterprise GTM. A $31 M Series B co-led by a16z & Bain Capital Ventures took total raise to $51 M, with continued backing from General Catalyst & Y Combinator. Capital used not for optics, but for orbit.
Strategy stays tight: target fast-growth B2B SaaS & enterprise post-sales teams managing multi-stakeholder chaos across chat-first workflows. Integrations with Fathom for meeting intelligence & discounts through Brex amplify reach.
Culture is a feature, not a tagline. SF HQ for in-person energy. Values grounded in ownership, customer obsession, tech excellence & collaboration. Mentorship baked in. DEI growing roots. Competitive pay, equity & autonomy. No passengers, just builders.
Leadership drives like operators, not spokespeople. Marty Kausas (CEO) sets vision for AI-native workflows & partnerships. Advith Chelikani (CTO) architects integrations & infrastructure. Robert Eng (Head of Engineering) builds scalable backbone. Jennifer Li steers enterprise strategy from the board.
Pylon isn’t just unifying post-sales, it’s giving B2B teams structure they can stand on. The bridge is built. The load is shifting. Watch who crosses next.
